James’ primary role is the general oversight of Ardenton, including driving partnerships, transition management, staff management, acquisition and corporate governance. He also serves on the investment committee. Previously, James was the corporate finance partner with Wolrige Mahon, where he built a corporate finance group focusing on acquisitions, divestitures, finance, and management consulting to entrepreneurs. In that role, he worked with over 500 companies across industries including forestry, agriculture, finance, construction and general manufacturing and distribution. James obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1998 and his Bachelor of Arts from UBC in 1995.
Jeff provides portfolio governance, new acquisition integration, business planning and operations support for our portfolio companies, keeping with a growth mandate. Additionally, Jeff serves on the Ardenton Investment Committee. Formerly, he was the Executive Director of Operations for a 135-store pharmacy chain (1988-1997) and a multi-franchise owner under the Shoppers Drug Mart banner (1998-2005). Since 2005, Jeff has provided consulting services related to strategic and operating advice, capital investment planning and financial modelling for private business ventures. He also advises accredited/permitted clients on alternative investment strategies within the private capital markets.
Bob’s role encompasses structuring, regulatory & compliance, support for capital raising and investor relations. Previously he was VP Finance with Trez Capital, one of Canada’s largest non-bank commercial mortgage lenders. Bob’s experience in the alternative funds industry was developed over 14 years as Director and co-CEO of Fortis Prime Fund Solutions (Asia) Limited, which provided comprehensive administration, custody, banking and related services to more than 150 alternative investment funds. He also gained exposure to a broad cross-section of SMEs and multi-national corporations during his time with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Victoria, Vancouver and Hong Kong. Bob is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute.
Jamie’s primary role encompasses investor relations, business development and working with family offices, institutions, and high net-worth investors to identify opportunities within the private capital markets. Most recently, he was an owner and Managing Director of Mason Capital Inc., a financial strategy consulting firm serving high net-worth families, professionals and business owners. With over 20 years of diverse experience in the financial industry, Jamie has previously served as Partner of a private real estate investment corporation, and as an Investment Executive (President’s Council) with ScotiaMcLeod. Jamie also has considerable expertise in exempt market products, investment syndication, and portfolio allocation. His education includes the Canadian Securities Course, and study in Management Economics at the University of Guelph.

Michael is responsible for originating and assessing potential investments and manages the transactions for Ardenton in the United Kingdom. Based in Manchester, UK, Michael has 14 years of Mergers & Acquisitions experience having worked on over 60 completed transactions. Michael has held a variety of M&A and strategic finance roles having previously worked at a leading North of England M&A Boutique and in senior strategic roles at a UK based private equity investment company and a listed technology company. Most recently Michael has been a senior member within the Mergers & Acquisitions team at BDO, a top-6 accountancy practice. Michael’s transaction experience includes management buy-outs, fund raising, disposals and private equity transactions. Possessing a deep understanding of owner-managed businesses, Michael has experience of a wide range of industry sectors including business services, manufacturing, technology and media.
Sam’s primary role is to source new business opportunities and execute transactions in Ontario, Eastern Canada, and the U.S. East Coast. Previously, Sam was a Director at Livingston International, a customs brokerage and logistics company with a growth strategy focusing on acquisitions. He was a key member of Livingston’s deal execution team, working on the acquisition and integration of eight businesses in Canada and the U.S.A. over four years. Sam’s deal experience also includes six years with Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, where he worked with clients on more than 30 corporate transactions across a variety of industries. Sam obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2004.

Kent assesses potential investments and manages the transactions for opportunities in Western United States, Texas and Western Canada. Prior to joining Ardenton, Kent spent 10 years at KPMG in their boutique corporate finance practice, where he worked on M&A engagements advising clients on divestitures, acquisitions, mergers and management buyouts within a varied set of industries. In addition to transaction-related experience, Kent has held a number of operational and executive roles within private and public companies. These roles include advising on the post-acquisition integration of a US subsidiary for a Canadian building products business, CFO of a private North American consumer goods retailer, and an operations and procurement role within a publicly listed global retailer. Kent is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator.

Iain is responsible for originating and executing acquisition opportunities in the United Kingdom. He is based in Manchester, U.K. Iain joined Ardenton from Deloitte’s Mergers & Acquisition advisory team where he spent 5 years primarily executing buy-side transactions for a number of the U.K.’s mid-market private equity investment houses. Iain has completed transactions across a range of industries and countries with a combined value of over GBP500 million. Iain trained with KPMG as a graduate where he spent 4 years before joining Brewin Dolphin Investment Bank, a mid-market investment bank and broker, advising clients on IPO’s, secondary market fundraisings and M&A transactions. Iain holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Bristol and an MBA from Manchester Business School.
Bill sources new business opportunities and executes transactions within Ontario, Eastern Canada and the United States East Coast. Previously a Managing Director of investment banking, Bill has 20 years of experience at a number of firms including National Bank Financial, Versant Partners, Raymond James Ltd. and AltaCorp Capital. His transaction experience has ranged from venture stage to large cap companies in aerospace, agriculture, business services, consumer products, engineering, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, technology, and more. He has completed hundreds of financing and M&A mandates, including the Canadian Venture Capital Association’s “Deal of the Year”. Bill is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and has his Masters in Business Administration.
Jason is responsible for originating, evaluating and executing new investments in the Eastern United States. Prior to joining Ardenton, Jason spent more than 15 years in investment banking, most recently as a Managing Director with Baker Tilly Capital. Jason’s investment banking experience includes sourcing and executing a broad range of transactions and corporate finance advisory engagements for middle-market companies with a focus on family, founder and entrepreneur-owned businesses. Jason has advised middle-market clients across a broad range of industries on public and private company mergers and acquisitions, private placements of capital, strategic alternatives, succession planning and business valuation issues. Prior to Baker Tilly Capital, Jason’s transaction experience included roles with Curtis Financial Group, Fleet Securities’ M&A advisory group, and Howard Lawson & Co., a Philadelphia-based boutique investment banking firm. Jason holds a BS in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from West Chester University. Jason previously held the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 Licenses and is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth and the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors.
Fady is responsible for sourcing and executing transactions within Ontario, Eastern Canada and the United States East Coast. Prior to joining Ardenton, Fady worked on many public equity, private equity and debt transactions across several industries and geographies. Most recently, Fady was an Executive Director with Deloitte’s Corporate Finance practice sourcing and executing capital raises and M&A mandates. Fady previously worked with National Bank’s Equity Capital Markets desk, where he was responsible for raising public and private equity, as well as convertible debentures. Fady holds an undergraduate degree in Commerce from McMaster University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mike identifies and reviews acquisition candidates and structures investment transactions. Previously, Michael spent over 18 years as the CFO of Creation Technologies – a Top 25 global electronics manufacturing services company. During Mike’s tenure at Creation, the company’s revenues grew from about $30 million to over $600 million. Before joining Creation, Mike was Director of Finance, Western Canada for Quebecor Printing. He also served in a variety of progressive financial roles with Kraft General Foods and R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company. Michael has his Masters in Business Administration.

Michael executes transactions within Ontario, Eastern Canada and the United States East Coast. Prior to joining Ardenton, Michael spent three years with Grant Thornton’s corporate finance group, most recently as an Associate Director, where he focused on mid-market buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions. Michael began his career in 2012 with Grant Thornton’s assurance practice providing audit-related services to companies in the mid-market. Michael obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2015.
Private Equity, US
Neal works with advisors and business owners to assess potential investments for opportunities in Texas and the Southwest USA. Prior to joining Ardenton, Neal spent three years evaluating private equity investments at The Stagwell Group and The Carlyle Group. Previous to his private equity experience, Neal also spent more than two years with a boutique corporate finance practice working primarily on sell-side M&A engagements within a variety of industries. Neal earned a BBA (magna cum laude) from Baylor University and was a member of their nationally-ranked golf program in the Big XII conference.

Marcus joined Ardenton in 2017 as a fourth-year Finance student at SFU Beedie School of Business. He fostered his passion for investing in private markets during an internship at a Vancouver-based asset management firm and is a member of his university’s student-run investment fund. Marcus supports the M&A team on transaction opportunities and due diligence.

Jason works closely with the M&A team on assisting with the identification of private equity transactions and providing due diligence support. Prior to joining Ardenton in 2017, he worked at a real estate investment group in Vancouver. Jason is currently pursuing a BCom in Finance and Accounting from McGill University.

Greg assists our partners in driving EBITDA through intelligent growth and well managed operations. He works closely with our M&A group to ensure prospective partners are aligned with Ardenton’s core values. Greg’s background is diverse, and he has held senior financial and operational roles with logistics, manufacturing, private healthcare and O&G organizations. Most recently, he was SVP Western Canada with Prism Medical Ltd, which provides patient moving solutions to hospitals and long term care facilities across North America. As well, he worked abroad with CHC Helicopters as GM for its Nigeria operations. Greg earned his Certified Management Accountant designation in 1994, and he has a Bachelor of Recreation Administration from UBC.
General Counsel & Compliance
Charlene’s primary role is providing legal, regulatory, and compliance advice and counsel for the Corporate Finance group. She also provides general counsel and management of other legal matters for Ardenton. Charlene’s experience in securities regulatory law and as general counsel was acquired over the past 15 years. Her most recent role was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with a private equity investment platform and registered exempt market dealer. Previously, Charlene worked with the Alberta Securities Commission in the role of Manager Legal, Market Regulation, as Chief Compliance Officer and Legal Counsel with a real estate investment focused exempt market dealer, and, for close to 8 years, as Enforcement Counsel with the Investment Dealers Association of Canada. Charlene graduated from UBC Law School in 1991, and has been a Member of the Law Society of Alberta since 1992 and a Member of the Law Society of British Columbia since 2015.
Vice President, Finance
Bernadette’s primary roles include overseeing the finance structure of Ardenton’s corporate entities and providing mentorship to the corporate and operational accounting teams. In addition, Bernadette provides guidance to Ardenton’s Human Resources and Administrative functions. Prior to joining Ardenton, Bernadette spent 12 years with Canaccord Genuity Group Inc.’s finance team holding various management roles including Corporate Controller for Canadian operations as well as Group Controller for the consolidated entity. Bernadette also has experience with small, private companies and venture capital. Bernadette is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She articled with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and spent time in London, England specializing in financial services.
Sam’s role focuses on identifying meaningful business partnerships for Ardenton’s long-term growth, in Canada, and internationally. He is also responsible for investor relations including support for high net-worth individuals and family offices. Prior to joining Ardenton, Sam co-founded and operated Dulay Burke Financial Recruitment for 17 years. Along with his business partner, he grew the company through their extensive network, helping thousands of individuals find meaningful careers. During this time, Sam also received such accolades as being recognized as one of Business in Vancouver’s Top 40 under 40 in 2005. Sam’s connection with Ardenton began through Dulay Burke Financial Recruitment helping to establish Ardenton offices in Manchester, UK and Dallas, USA as well as managing key recruitments for the Vancouver office. Prior to establishing Dulay Burke Financial Recruitment, Sam was based in the UK, where he trained as an Accountant and worked for one of the UK’s leading customer service businesses.
Thomas is responsible for working directly with Directors of Strategy and investee company executives to help evaluate and establish growth strategies including product/service diversification, geographic and industry expansion. Prior to joining Ardenton, Thomas spent three years at Accenture as a Business Strategy Manager where he worked with businesses to establish transformation, digital, competitive and industry strategies for companies in Canada and the United States. Thomas also worked six years in investment banking for Credit Suisse in their Technology Media & Telecom Group in San Francisco. Thomas holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University.
Dave’s primary roles are investor relations, support for retail channels, high net-worth individuals and family offices, and identifying business opportunities in Alberta. Dave is also a principal partner in one of Ardenton’s companies: The Pipe Yard Ltd. His role includes domestic and international channel support, and key client activities. Previously Dave was the president of Wescorp Energy Inc., an energy technology company, where he led the company to grow more than 100%. Prior to that, he was Western Canadian Area Vice President for Ikon Office Solutions, a Ricoh company. There, Dave’s primary role was to drive corporate initiatives and build a solid leadership team that could execute, along with acquisition integration. Under Dave’s leadership, his region was marketplace of the year for five out of seven years. Dave has 27 plus years’ experience in corporate strategies and execution, human capital training and development.
Aidan is responsible for overseeing Ardenton’s corporate accounting function as well as working with the Partner Companies on all accounting and finance-related matters. His main roles include managing the financial reporting process, corporate financial planning and analysis, and implementing best-practice processes across the finance and operations teams. Previously, Aidan was the Senior Accountant at American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP for two years where he was responsible for the financial reporting process. Prior to that, Aidan worked as an Audit Senior with KPMG Dublin in the Financial Services Department for four years. Aidan is a Chartered Accountant and graduated with a B.A. Law and Accounting from the University of Limerick.
Gloria provides financial leadership, expertise and support to the accounting teams within Ardenton’s portfolio companies. She is also responsible for the financial reporting and processes of the portfolio companies. Gloria is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UBC Sauder School of Business. She began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Financial Services Department. Previously, she was on the Corporate Accounting team at one of Canada’s largest non-bank, commercial mortgage lenders, Trez Capital, where she provided accounting for its investment projects throughout North America. Most recently, she was engaged as Controller providing oversight to the organizational accounting and finance functions in specialized real estate investment with Lanyard Financial Corporation.
Brad’s focus is building scalable and efficient investor reporting systems, internal reporting and compliance, and support for capital raising and corporate finance initiatives. Previously, he spent five years leading the investor services team with Trez Capital LP, a commercial mortgage fund manager and one of the largest non-bank commercial mortgage lenders in Canada. In that role he was responsible for private placement transaction execution, reporting and analysis on a series of mortgage investment portfolios and real estate private equity funds, and support for due diligence and capital raising. Prior to that role, he was involved in graphic design and website development. Brad is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the UBC Sauder School of Business.
Dion’s primary responsibilities include the day to day accounting operations of Ardenton’s corporate head office, as well as preparing working papers and financial statements for various group companies. Previously, Dion was the Senior Accountant at Vaisala Canada Inc., where she worked for six years in a progressive full cycle accounting role. Dion holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and is currently working towards her CPA designation.

Soni’s primary responsibilities include investor services, internal reporting and compliance, and support for fundraising initiatives. She also assists with implementing new policies and systems to enhance the overall investor experience. Prior to joining Ardenton, Soni spent six years with CIBC in retail banking and financial services where her most recent position was Financial Planning Associate with CIBC Wealth Management. In that role, she supported investment consultants in the execution of their daily business and maximizing high value client portfolio objectives. Soni holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Financial Management and a minor in Economics. She is currently pursuing her CFA designation.

Head of Talent Acquisition
Hayley seeks to identify, develop and enhance the human capital within Ardenton and our partnerships. Previously she handled Marketing Communications and held various roles in the financial industry, including six years as Investor Relations and Marketing Manager at Envestors, a boutique corporate finance firm in London, UK – matching sophisticated investors with high growth companies. Hayley earned a BA(Hons) Business & Marketing and holds a Certificate in Corporate Finance from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. She is certified in The Birkman Method® and as a Predictive Index Analyst.
DeeDee helps keep the office running smoothly and is temporarily acting as James Livingstone’s Executive Assistant. She was previously the Director of Marketing & Events for a Vancouver-based start-up where she gained valuable experience and helped grow the company into a mid-sized enterprise. DeeDee holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto. Going forward, DeeDee will be primarily involved with Ardenton’s marketing and events.

Investor Relations Manager
Jade works closely with James Livingstone as his Executive Assistant, and supports the global markets team as Investors Relations Manager. Jade joined Ardenton in 2016, bringing with her seven years of extensive experience in customer service and administration in the financial services industry. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and is a licensed life insurance advisor, which gives her a solid understanding of the financial industry. Jade is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
