James' primary role is the general oversight of Ardenton, including driving partnerships, transition management, staff management, acquisition and corporate governance. He also serves on the investment committee.
Previously, James was the corporate finance partner with Wolrige Mahon, where he built a corporate finance group focusing on acquisitions, divestitures, finance, and management consulting to entrepreneurs. In that role, he worked with over 500 companies across industries including forestry, agriculture, finance, construction and general manufacturing and distribution. James obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1998 and his Bachelor of Arts from UBC in 1995.
Bob's role encompasses structuring, regulatory and compliance, support for capital raising and investor relations.
Previously Bob was VP Finance with Trez Capital, one of Canada's largest non-bank commercial mortgage lenders. Bob's experience in the alternative funds industry was developed over 14 years as Director and co-CEO of Fortis Prime Fund Solutions (Asia) Limited, which provided comprehensive administration, custody, banking and related services to more than 150 alternative investment funds.
He also gained exposure to a broad cross-section of SMEs and multi-national corporations during his time with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Victoria, Vancouver and Hong Kong. Bob is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute.
Jeff's role is building out the platform & global resources of the A.O.S., providing portfolio governance, acquisition integration, and operations support for portfolio companies.
Additionally, Jeff serves on the Ardenton Investment Committee.
Formerly, an Executive Director of Operations for a 135-store pharmacy chain (1988-1997) and a multi-franchise owner under the Shoppers Drug Mart banner (1998-2005). Since 2005, Jeff has provided consulting services related to strategic and operating advice, capital investment planning and financial modelling for private business ventures, and investment strategies within the private capital markets.
Jamie's role is investor relations, business development and working with family offices, institutions, & investors to identify opportunities within private capital markets.
Most recently, he was an owner and Managing Director of Mason Capital Inc., a financial strategy consulting firm serving high net-worth families, professionals and business owners.
With over 20 years of diverse experience in the financial industry, Jamie has previously served as Partner of a private real estate investment corporation, and as an Investment Executive (President's Council) with ScotiaMcLeod. Jamie also has considerable expertise in exempt market products, investment syndication, and portfolio allocation. His education includes the Canadian Securities Course, and study in Management Economics at the University of Guelph.
Sam's primary role is to source new business opportunities and execute transactions throughout Canada, and the U.S. East Coast.
Previously, Sam was a Director at Livingston International, a customs brokerage and logistics company with a growth strategy focusing on acquisitions. He was a key member of Livingston's deal execution team, working on the acquisition and integration of eight businesses in Canada and the U.S.A. over four years.
Sam's deal experience also includes six years with Ernst & Young's Transaction Advisory Services practice, where he worked with clients on more than 30 corporate transactions across a variety of industries. Sam obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2004.
Bill sources new business opportunities and executes transactions throughout Canada and the United States East Coast.
Previously a Managing Director of investment banking, Bill has 20 years of experience at a number of firms including National Bank Financial, Versant Partners, Raymond James Ltd. and AltaCorp Capital.
Bill's transaction experience has ranged from venture stage to large cap companies in aerospace, agriculture, business services, consumer products, engineering, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, technology, and more. He has completed hundreds of financing and M&A mandates, including the Canadian Venture Capital Association's "Deal of the Year". Bill is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and has his Masters in Business Administration.
Mike's role primarily involves identifying and reviewing acquisition candidates and structuring investment transactions.
Previously, Mike spent over 18 years as the CFO of Creation Technologies, a Top 25 global electronics manufacturing services company. During Mike's tenure at Creation, the company's revenues grew from about $30 million to over $800 million.
Before joining Creation, Mike was Director of Finance, Western Canada for Quebecor Printing. He also served in a variety of progressive financial roles with Kraft General Foods and R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company. Mike has his Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Fady is responsible for sourcing and executing transactions throughout Canada.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Fady worked on many public equity, private equity and debt transactions across several industries and geographies.
Most recently, Fady was an Executive Director with Deloitte's Corporate Finance practice sourcing and executing capital raises and M&A mandates. Fady previously worked with National Bank's Equity Capital Markets desk, where he was responsible for raising public and private equity, as well as convertible debentures. Fady holds an undergraduate degree in Commerce from McMaster University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Michael identifies new business opportunities and executes transactions throughout Canada.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Michael spent three years with Grant Thornton's corporate finance group, most recently as an Associate Director, where he focused on mid-market buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions.
Michael began his career in 2012 with Grant Thornton's Assurance Practice providing audit-related services to companies in the mid-market. Michael obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2015 and his Chartered Business Valuator designation in 2017.
Brendan's primary role involves sourcing new business opportunities and executing transactions within Texas and the Southern United States.
Previously a Managing Director and Head of Corporate Investment Banking with a mid-market Texas investment bank, Brendan has more than 12 years of combined experience in corporate M&A, valuations, and litigation support with Commerce Street Capital and Duff & Phelps. In addition to his transaction experience, Brendan held a corporate account management role driving top line growth for Dell Inc. out of their Austin headquarters.
Brendan holds a BBA degree and a Master’s in Business Administration from The University of Texas, McCombs School of Business.
Sarah's primary role is to source new business opportunities and execute transactions in the Midwestern United States.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Sarah spent over a decade in investment banking working with clients on sell-side and buy-side M&A, as well as public and private debt and equity financings. Most recently, Sarah was a Director of Investment Banking at Mesirow Financial, where she worked on M&A engagements for closely-held companies.
Prior to Mesirow, Sarah worked with UBS Investment Bank, where she focused on M&A and debt financing. She started her career in the Financial Advisory Services group of Houlihan Lokey focusing on fairness and solvency opinions and general business and securities valuations. Sarah has completed over 30 transactions on behalf of owners/entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, private equity firms and public companies across a variety of industries. Sarah earned a B.S. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses.
Jason is responsible for originating, evaluating, and executing new investments in the Eastern United States.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Jason spent more than 15 years in investment banking, most recently as a Managing Director with Baker Tilly Capital. His experience includes sourcing and executing transactions and corporate finance advisory engagements for middle-market companies, with a focus on family, founder, and entrepreneur-owned businesses.
Jason has advised middle-market clients across a broad range of industries on public and private company mergers and acquisitions, private placements of capital, strategic alternatives, succession planning and business valuation issues. Jason holds a BS in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from West Chester University and previously held the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 Licenses.
Craig is responsible for originating, evaluating, and executing new investments in the Eastern United States.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Craig was Director of Corporate Development at a public company, CDI Corp., where he focused on acquisitions and strategic initiatives.
Craig has over 10 years of experience in investment banking, private equity and corporate development with public and private companies. His experience includes growth equity investments, corporate restructurings, and buyouts across various industries. Craig has a BS in Finance and Management from Georgetown University, where he was a member of the Varsity Football team.
Neal is responsible for the origination, evaluation, and execution of new investment opportunities in the Southwest and Southeast regions of the United States.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Neal spent three years as a private equity investment professional with The Stagwell Group and The Carlyle Group, where he focused on buyout and growth equity investments in technology and business services companies.
Neal also served more than two years with McColl Partners, an investment bank providing M&A and capital markets advisory services to middle-market businesses across a variety of industries. Neal holds BBA degrees in Finance and Economics (Magna Cum Laude) from Baylor University, where he was a member of the Varsity Golf team.
Michael is responsible for originating and assessing potential investments and manages the transactions for Ardenton in the United Kingdom.
Based in Manchester, UK, Michael has 14 years of Mergers & Acquisitions experience having worked on over 60 completed transactions. Michael has held a variety of M&A and strategic finance roles having previously worked at a leading North of England M&A Boutique and in senior strategic roles at a UK based private equity investment company and a listed technology company. Most recently Michael has been a senior member within the Mergers & Acquisitions team at BDO, a top-6 accountancy practice.
Michael's transaction experience includes management buy-outs, fund raising, disposals and private equity transactions. Possessing a deep understanding of owner-managed businesses, Michael has experience of a wide range of industry sectors including business services, manufacturing, technology and media.
Iain is responsible for originating and executing acquisition opportunities in the United Kingdom.
He is based in Manchester, U.K. Iain joined Ardenton from Deloitte's Mergers & Acquisition advisory team where he spent 5 years primarily executing buy-side transactions for a number of the U.K.'s mid-market private equity investment houses. Iain has completed transactions across a range of industries and countries with a combined value of over GBP500 million.
Iain trained with KPMG as a graduate where he spent 4 years before joining Brewin Dolphin Investment Bank, a mid-market investment bank and broker, advising clients on IPO's, secondary market fundraisings and M&A transactions. Iain holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Bristol and an MBA from Manchester Business School.
James is responsible for originating and executing acquisition opportunities in the United Kingdom.
Prior to joining Ardenton, James spent four years within Deloitte’s Mergers & Acquisitions advisory team, where he executed both buy-side and sell-side transactions for a number of U.K. mid-market private equity investment houses. James has both national and international deal experience across a range of sectors and has worked closely with owner-managed businesses looking to create and extract value.
James qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the audit practice of Deloitte in Manchester, U.K., where he spent three years before joining Everton Football club, an English Premier League football team. Whilst at Everton James worked directly with the CEO and COO for two years on strategic club priorities including a re-financing of the training facility and new stadium planning. James holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Science from Manchester Business School.
Greg assists our partners in driving EBITDA through intelligent growth and well managed operations. He works closely with our M&A group to ensure prospective partners are aligned with Ardenton's core values.
Greg's background is diverse, and he has held senior financial and operational roles with logistics, manufacturing, private healthcare and O&G organizations. Most recently, he was SVP Western Canada with Prism Medical Ltd., which provides patient moving solutions to hospitals and long term care facilities across North America. As well, he worked abroad with CHC Helicopters as GM for its Nigeria operations. Greg earned his Certified Management Accountant designation in 1994, and he has a Bachelor of Recreation Administration from UBC.
Ken works with Ardenton's Operating Companies in Ontario to provide stewardship and to grow EBITDA, building relationships with partners and providing direct support in all areas of the partners' businesses.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Ken held senior finance, business development, and general management roles in a variety of industries, including limestone manufacturing, textile & apparel, automotive parts manufacturing, and solar energy. In addition, he was a founding partner of an innovative online software company. Ken obtained his designation as a Chartered Accountant in Ontario during 1998, and in 1995, received an Honours Business Administration degree from the Western Ivey School of Business.
Allan works with Ardenton's Operating Companies in the U.K. striving for growth in the EBITDA of those companies. He develops partners' businesses by providing strategic support across all business functions.
Prior to Ardenton, Allan worked in corporate finance and private equity, before successfully growing and selling a technology services business. In that business, he occupied leadership roles in Operations, Finance, Human Resources and other areas. A Chartered Accountant, Allan gained a degree in Business Management from the Robert Gordon's University in Aberdeen Scotland.
Thom is responsible for working directly with Directors of Strategy and investee company executives to help establish growth strategies including product/service diversification, geographic and industry expansion.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Thomas spent three years at Accenture as a Business Strategy Manager where he worked with businesses to establish transformation, digital, competitive and industry strategies for companies in Canada and the United States. Thomas also worked six years in investment banking for Credit Suisse in their Technology Media & Telecom Group in San Francisco. Thomas holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University.
Gloria provides financial leadership, expertise and support to the accounting teams within Ardenton's portfolio companies. She is also responsible for the financial reporting and processes of the portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Gloria began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Financial Services Department. Previously, she was on the Corporate Accounting team at one of Canada's largest non-bank, commercial mortgage lenders, Trez Capital, where she provided accounting for its investment projects throughout North America. Most recently, she was engaged as Controller providing oversight to the organizational accounting and finance functions in specialized real estate investment with Lanyard Financial Corporation.
Gloria is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UBC Sauder School of Business.
Ciarán supports the accounting teams within Ardenton’s portfolio companies and assists with the financial reporting and processes of the portfolio companies and the corporate accounting group.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Ciarán worked as a Restructuring Senior with KPMG Dublin in the Deal Advisory - Corporate Restructuring and Forensics department. During his time with KPMG, Ciarán completed a number of Independent Business Reviews, financial and operational corporate restructuring plans, insolvency engagements, and corporate disposals for a large number of clients in various industries. Ciarán is a Chartered Accountant and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin.
Charlene's primary role is to manage all local and international legal and regulatory mandates on behalf of Ardenton, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and provide direct oversight and assistance to Ardenton’s operations group.
Charlene's experience in securities regulatory law and as general counsel was acquired over the past 15 years. Her most recent role was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with a private equity investment platform and registered exempt market dealer.
Previously, Charlene worked with the Alberta Securities Commission in the role of Manager Legal, Market Regulation, as Chief Compliance Officer and Legal Counsel with a real estate investment focused exempt market dealer, and, for close to 8 years, as Enforcement Counsel with the Investment Dealers Association of Canada. Charlene graduated from UBC Law School in 1991, and has been a Member of the Law Society of Alberta since 1992 and a Member of the Law Society of British Columbia since 2015.
Bernadette's roles include overseeing the finance structure of Ardenton's corporate entities.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Bernadette spent 12 years with Canaccord Genuity Group Inc.'s finance team holding various management roles including Corporate Controller for Canadian operations as well as Group Controller for the consolidated entity. Bernadette also has experience with private companies and venture capital. Bernadette is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She articled with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and spent time in London, England specializing in financial services.
Sam's primary role focuses on identifying meaningful business partnerships for Ardenton's long-term growth, in Canada and globally. He is also responsible for investor relations including support for high net-worth individuals and family offices.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Sam co-founded and operated Dulay Burke Financial Recruitment for 17 years. Along with his business partner, he grew the company through their extensive network, helping thousands of individuals find meaningful careers. During this time, Sam also received such accolades as being recognized as one of Business in Vancouver's Top 40 under 40 in 2005.
Sam's connection with Ardenton began through Dulay Burke Financial Recruitment helping to establish Ardenton offices in Manchester, UK and Dallas, USA as well as managing key recruitments for the Vancouver office. Prior to establishing Dulay Burke Financial Recruitment, Sam was based in the UK, where he trained as an Accountant and worked for one of the UK's leading customer service businesses.
Alex's primary roles include U.S. investor relations, as well as identifying business partnerships for Ardenton's development.
Most recently, he was Vice President of originations for Gibraltar Business Capital, a private credit firm. Previously, Alex was an Assistant Vice President at PNC’s Institutional Relationship Management group, covering insurance companies. Prior, Alex was a research analyst at Invesco, covering investment grade credit.
Alex has nearly 10 years of experience in investment management and corporate finance, with a focus on credit. Alex has a BBA in Finance, Investment and Banking from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and previously held the FINRA Series 7, 66 and 79 Licenses.
Dave’s roles include investor relations, support for retail channels, high net-worth individuals and family offices, and identifying meaningful partnerships for Ardenton's long-term growth, in the Alberta market.
Dave is also a principal partner in one of Ardenton's companies; The Pipe Yard Ltd. TPY is in the supply and distribution of new and secondary pipe to the Canadian construction industries, supporting civil construction, foundations, piling companies, pipeline construction companies, oilfield service related companies, etc. Dave's role includes domestic and international channel support, and key client activities. Previously Dave was the president of an Energy technology company, where he led the companies' growth to more than 100% in less than two years.
Prior to that, he was Western Canadian Area Vice President for a technology company now known as Ricoh. There, Dave's primary role was to drive corporate initiatives and build a solid leadership team that could execute strategies that resulted in positive financial results and happy and engaged stakeholders. Dave was also part of the overall corporate growth strategies supporting acquisition integration team. Under Dave's leadership, his region was marketplace of the year for five out of seven years. Dave has 27 plus years' experience in corporate strategies and execution, human capital training and development.
Aidan is responsible for overseeing Ardenton's corporate accounting function as well as working with the Partner Companies on all accounting and finance-related matters.
Aidan's main roles include managing the financial reporting process, corporate financial planning and analysis, and implementing best-practice processes across the finance and operations teams.
Previously, Aidan was the Senior Accountant at American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP for two years where he was responsible for the financial reporting process. Prior to that, Aidan worked as an Audit Senior with KPMG Dublin in the Financial Services Department for four years. Aidan is a Chartered Accountant and graduated with a B.A. Law and Accounting from the University of Limerick.
Brad's focus is building scalable and efficient investor reporting systems, internal reporting and compliance, and support for capital raising and corporate finance initiatives.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Brad spent five years leading the investor services team with Trez Capital LP, a commercial mortgage fund manager and one of the largest non-bank commercial mortgage lenders in Canada. In that role he was responsible for private placement transaction execution, reporting and analysis on a series of mortgage investment portfolios and real estate private equity funds, and support for due diligence and capital raising.
Prior to that role, he was involved in graphic design and website development. Brad is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the UBC Sauder School of Business.
Len is responsible for consolidating the financials and providing analysis of all companies under the Ardenton umbrella.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Len worked as a Senior Financial Analyst with Aritzia, Inc. and spent over 10 years with Canaccord Genuity Group Inc.'s Finance team, holding various management roles including Manager, Financial Accounting, and VP, Controller of Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management. Len earned his Certified Management Accountant designation in 2007.
Michele’s primary responsibility is support for the legal and corporate finance team on corporate and securities law matters, and maintenance of Ardenton’s legal entities.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Michele was a Senior Regulatory Paralegal with the Wilson Group, Vancouver, working exclusively on structured finance and commercial real estate development. Previously, she was a Senior Structured Finance Paralegal at Maples and Calder LLP, Cayman, working extensively for seven years on structured finance transactions, including CLOs, debt re-packagings, aircraft financing, structured funds and fund derivative products, and segregated portfolio companies ranging from entity classification, availability of exemptions, reportable accounts, application of the account due diligence rules, and notification and reporting obligations. Michele holds a degree in paralegal studies.
Soni's responsibilities include investor services, internal reporting and compliance, and support for fundraising initiatives. She also assists with implementing policies & systems to enhance the investor experience.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Soni spent six years with CIBC in retail banking and financial services where her most recent position was Financial Planning Associate with CIBC Wealth Management. In that role, she supported investment consultants in the execution of their daily business and maximizing high value client portfolio objectives. Soni holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Financial Management and a minor in Economics. She is currently pursuing her CFA designation.
Monique is responsible for the development of Ardenton's investor communications platform, marketing tools and resources, brand strategy implementation, and graphic design for client-facing materials.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Monique worked as the Brand Manager of a lifestyle apparel company based in Vancouver. Her experience in marketing strategy and graphic design was developed over the last eight years, during which she has worked with mid-size businesses and not-for-profit organizations across a variety of industries, countries, and cultures. Monique holds a Master's of Business Administration degree from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
Niall's role focuses on client services such as investor reporting and development & implementation of systems & policies. He also focuses on regulatory compliance, fundraising initiatives & research.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Niall spent four years within the Hedge Fund Services division at JP Morgan, Dublin where he managed the Investment Operations team. He was responsible for client relationship management, the development of middle-office procedures and fund administration to over 60 portfolios. His role also focused on risk reduction and global integration. Niall has a Masters in Business Studies from Waterford Institute of Technology, with majors in Economics and Finance.
Stacy's role focuses on the development and maintenance of Ardenton’s data systems, automation of processes, and ensuring the integrity of data.
She also participates in other information technology initiatives including cyber security efforts, market trend research, and monitoring regulatory changes.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Stacy spent time in Institutional Portfolio Operations at Connor Clark & Lunn Financial Group, where she spearheaded the efforts in automating the reconciliation processes for derivative products including bond futures and equity swaps. She co-led the corroborative initiatives of transforming high-level data requirements from institutional clients into automated data output for highly defined input specifications. Stacy holds a BBA in accounting and is pursuing her CFA charter.
Minh's role centers on financial modelling and institutional corporate finance.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Minh was called to the Ontario Bar by the Law Society of Upper Canada. She then practiced corporate law and litigation at a firm in downtown Toronto.
Minh graduated from UBC with First Class Standing, and subsequently obtained her Juris Doctor at Dalhousie University, with a focus on business law. During this time, she assumed leadership roles at leading Canadian hospitality groups, was involved in community outreach programs, and was a project coordinator for BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Dion's primary responsibilities include the day to day accounting operations of Ardenton's corporate head office, as well as preparing working papers and financial statements for various group companies.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Dion was the Senior Accountant at Vaisala Canada Inc., where she worked for six years in a progressive full cycle accounting role. Dion holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and is currently working towards her CPA designation.
Araceli supports the Finance & Accounting team as Staff Accountant. She performs general accounting, which include accounts payable and reconciliations, and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting.
Prior to joining Ardenton, Araceli worked with the finance team at Canaccord Genuity Group Inc. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the Universidad Interamericana para el Desarrollo in Mexico, and an Administrative Assistant Diploma from Vancouver Community College.
Jade works closely with James Livingstone as his Executive Assistant, and supports the global markets team as Investors Relations Manager.
Jade joined Ardenton in 2016, bringing with her seven years of extensive experience in customer service and administration in the financial services industry. Jade holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and is a licensed life insurance advisor, which gives her a solid understanding of the financial industry. Jade is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Jamie Lynn is the Personal Assistant to Jeff Charbonneau and James Sinkeldam, providing support on marketing-related activities, event coordination, talent assessment, and general administration.
Jamie Lynn officially joined Ardenton in March 2017, previously working with Jeff and James at their financial strategy firm in Guelph, Ontario.
Jamie Lynn completed her Honours Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and Public Policy, alongside a minor in Political Science from the University of Guelph. Additionally, Jamie Lynn has worked as the marketing manager for a start-up business, received formal training and work experience in graphic design and conceptual process from Sheridan College, and is a Certified Predictive Index Practitioner.
