Ardenton Announces Equity Investment in W. Corbett & Co. (Galvanizing) Ltd.
Ardenton Capital Corporation (“Ardenton”) is proud to announce its strategic partnership and equity investment in W. Corbett & Co. (Galvanizing) Ltd. (“Corbetts”). This transaction represents Ardenton's first investment in the United Kingdom.
Corbetts was established in 1809 and is the largest independent hot dip galvanizer in the U.K. Headquartered in Telford in the Midlands, Corbetts galvanizes for U.K. manufacturing businesses across a broad range of sectors. The management team's strategy will be to continue to deliver excellent customer service and a high quality product whilst exploring opportunities to create more capacity within the Midlands operation in the medium term.
Corbetts will continue to be led by its long-standing Managing Director, Tim Ward, and Financial Director, Sophie Boothroyd, who have both invested alongside Ardenton. "We look forward to the next chapter working alongside the team at Ardenton," said Mr. Ward. "Our aim will be to consolidate our position in the U.K. market and continue to deliver excellence to our client base."
Hot dip galvanizing involves the coating of steel with a layer of zinc, by immersing the metal in a bath of molten zinc at temperatures of around 450 ̊ C. When exposed to the atmosphere, the pure zinc reacts with oxygen to form zinc oxide, a strong material that prevents corrosion, protecting the steel below from the elements. Widely used in applications requiring corrosion resistance, the material provides a cost effective alternative to stainless steel.
Ardenton's U.K. team is spearheaded by directors Michael Bradbury and Iain Marlow. "Corbetts is a great business with an impressive management team," said Mr. Bradbury, Director. "We set out with a sector-neutral approach and a focus on robust and growing businesses supplying products or services that will be as relevant in 20 years' time as they are today. Corbetts ticked every box for us."
